The plate was decorated for a fundraising event in 2003 organized by the Friends of the Confederation Centre in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Several P.E.I. artists, including Ambika Gail Rutherford, were invited to paint plates that were later auctioned off as part of a large Gala called "Behind the Red Velvet". Proceeds from the event were used for Arts Education at the Centre.
