Blythe Hurst (10 Mar 1903 - 24 Feb 1968) was an amateur naturalist. Islanders who had a rare or unidentified insect would travel from all across P.E.I. to consult him. Hurst is said to have had insects and butterflies pinned, identified and mounted in green velvet show cases enclosed in glass in hid home. He also had an extensive library and would search his reference books until he found a satisfactory answer for each inquiry. Apart from his contribution to this booklet, Hurst also authored A New Flora of Prince Edward Island, and A Naturalist’s Calendar for Prince Edward Island.
Brackley Beach is located within the P.E.I. National Park. It’s part of a protected area that stretches from Rustico harbour to Brackley, continuing west to Stanhope and Dalvay. It’s an unincorporated area, located in Queens County in the central portion of Prince Edward Island. Its precise location is N 46°25', W 63°11'.
