Description: Engraving. Cleaned and mounted on archival card. The piece depicts a carriage driven by four horses crossing over a rustic stone and wooden bridge against a rural landscape. Signature in the plate at lower right is for the artist of the original painting. An engraved version of the painting was made by James Duthie - the first engraver to work for the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
Albert Fitch Bellows (1829–1883) was an American landscape artist of the Hudson River School.
William Pate was a publisher of American topographical views. He was active in New York during the middle and latter decades of the 19th century.
